The American University is a prominent and the most prestigious university situated in the historic city of Rome commonly known as AUR. It is a degree-granting American university in Rome, Italy. Established in 1960, the school is the oldest American degree-granting university in Rome. The AUR is located near the center of Rome on Janiculum hill and has an undergraduate enrollment of around 500. The language used for instructions is mainly English. The university also provides spacious and well-equipped conference halls to hold world-class meetings and events. It has already hosted numerous successful programs so far. The buildings are situated on Via Pietro Roselli adjacent to a portion of the Aurelian Wall with the Communications Building, commonly known as Carini building, being located on Via Carini, only a short walk. The Carini building, completed in 1970, is one of the works of the Italian architect Paolo Portoghesi, called Casa Papanice.
